Why did you come to West Hollywood/Los Angeles?
I was born and raised here, so I had no other alternative. I've stayed here because I'm not a gypsy. This is my home. This is where I've stayed all my life and I plan on staying.

What do you like to do with your free time?
I should clean my house with my free time, but I'd rather volunteer. I like to volunteer at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center Village. I also volunteer for the city of West Hollywood, for the book fair that's coming up and I was president of Project Rainbow in North Hollywood. If I weren't volunteering I don't know where I'd be. I'd probably be going crazy. It's unfortunate that there aren't very many gay seniors that volunteer for anything.

What do you like about West Hollywood/Los Angeles?
It is the most progressive town that I know of, as far as gay and lesbians are concerned. You know, for us, for our community. It a wonderful place with a lot of wonderful things for seniors and for young people too. It's a beautiful place as far as I'm concerned.

What do you think is an important issue in the community?
On November 4th we need to vote no on Proposition 8. It's about our freedom.

What does being a "leader" or "role model" mean to you?
It's important for gay seniors to be out there and doing their thing. We're invisible so much of the time and we need to stand up for what we think is important in our community. I never really considered myself a leader, I'm just happy doing what I'm doing and being who I am.

If you could do something for the community, what would that be?
Doing what I'm doing now. Volunteering. It's a wonderful thing to do, for everybody, young or old. Vote for Equality needs volunteers to defeat Prop 8 in November.
